Finding this photo on the web had me chuckling at the memory of the half marathon I ran the other weekend.

Sundays are always way too long for me with nothing much to do. That Sunday, I woke up at 6am, excited about the run and the possibility of a better Sunday as an after effect from my run. I geared up and hit the street like a beast that I am slowly but surely growing into. Everything was going OK, the weather was perfect, the air was clean, no traffic whatsoever. Just perfect.

By the 15th kilometer however,  things took a turn. I was surprised by the intensity of the hunger pangs I was feeling! Suddenly, I started wondering how grass tasted. I KNOW! The Petrichor* didn’t help either. Hardly had I began worrying that I didn’t have the energy to go further when I saw a shirtless man jogging ahead of me! From where I stood trying to catch my breathe trying not to keel over; the brother looked fine – nice back, guns and legs that looked like they’d never  missed a single leg day. Before I knew it, I was overwhelmed with a burst of energy, I started chasing after him! Dude was in excellent form, I didn’t catch up with him but the challenge was accepted and carried forward till next time…

*Petrichor – the scent of rain on dry earth, or the scent of dust after rain.
